There is a two part problem in this system that you won’t realize till you are already committed.

1. Most of the time, web designers are not thorough enough to dig out all of the design needs you actually want. This means that half way through the project when the website design isn’t turning out the way, you, the website customer envisioned it, you will want to make changes. This leads to the second problem.

2. Changes in website design that seem minor to a customer, most likely require huge amounts of website code change in order to accomplish the desired results. This means added hours and added dollars. It is not uncommon to see an estimated completed website price of $4,500 end up costing the customer in the $7,000 range (I have a friend who does websites who just charged that price for a project with that estimate). I guess that’s fine if you have bags of money, but for the rest of us, that’s a hard to swallow proposition…

What ends up happening is either the customer gets talked down from the first problem by the website designer and they are unhappy with a website they just spent thousands of dollars to build. Or, they pay the extra and they end up going way beyond their budget because their website designer could not predict the actual cost involved.

After we choose that template, we begin making the changes and customization that you require, based on the actual look of an actual site. We have developed a very thorough questionnaire to define the scope of the project from there and literally, if we have the deliverables (pictures, content, etc.) for your project in a timely manner we can have your new world class website “live” within weeks instead of months and months and all for the price we agreed on at the beginning of the project!

Let me give you an example:  At my church, we record all of my sermons.  I thought it would be great to start putting those sermons on my website and even cooler if we could have them go into a iTunes Podcast.  I did a search on WordPress’ Plugin search page for “Podcasting” and came up with these results.  I happened to use the first plugin that came up, “Blubrry Podcasting Plugin”  I literally installed (clicked install) the plugin, clicked activate on the plugin.  Went in and configured what I wanted the podcast to be called, etc.   I wrote a post, uploaded a file through the easy file upload interface, copied the address to the file and pasted it into the podcasting dialogue and wamo blamo, my file could be played right on the site or accessed through an iTunes Podcast!  Sounds like a lot, but it took longer to upload the file than to set up the configuration!
