It used to be in years past that churches advertised pretty heavily in the Yellow Pages. This was where the average person looking for a church went first. This is no longer the case. More and more people are looking for and finding their churches by visiting them on their website, not yellow pages.
Obviously, you will have to decide if your church in your community needs to continue to advertise in the yellow pages, but whether your advertising in the yellow pages or not you still need to have a strong web presence. One way to instantly get the internet presence your church deserves is to use Google Adwords. Adwords are the search results google places at the top of search pages – these are paid advertisements. What does this mean for your church, it means your website can be number one today in search results for a low price (I am not getting paid anything for this article, I just believe this service will help your church today have a strong internet presence).
There is a lot more I would like to say about this subject, but I need to go watch wheel of fortune with my family
. Suffice it to say, if all of your advertising dollars are in print or radio, maybe your church should consider doing some specific internet marketing. I think you will find the front door to your church will quickly become your website. The question you really need to ask in this whole equation, is whether your website is worth advertising?
Well, I’m off, W-h-e-e-l o-f F-o-r-t-u-n-e!
